Travel information changes — check before you commit
This is the clause that matters most, so it goes first. Everything on this site is published in good faith and checked against primary sources, but Patagonia moves. Park fees are revised. A Carretera Austral ferry cancels for a fortnight. Refugio booking windows open on a different date than last season. A border pass shuts for snow. Bus routes that run daily in January run twice a week in May. Argentine peso prices can be overtaken by the exchange rate within a single season.
Confirm anything your trip depends on directly with the park authority, the operator or the carrier before you book, pay or set off. Treat what you read here as well-researched orientation, not as a live timetable. No warranty is given that any detail is accurate, complete or current at the moment you read it, and the site is provided on an “as is” basis.
Not professional advice
Nothing here is legal, medical, financial, insurance or immigration advice. Guidance on visas and entry requirements, on travel insurance, on altitude, cold and trail safety, on currency and on customs is general background, and your circumstances are specific. Consult the relevant consulate, a qualified professional or your insurer for a decision that depends on your own position.
The hiking guides deserve a line of their own. Trails in Torres del Paine, around Fitz Roy, and everywhere else described on this site carry real risk: exposure, sudden weather, river crossings, rockfall and remoteness from help. Difficulty ratings and timings are indicative and assume settled conditions and reasonable fitness. Judging whether a route is within your capability on the day, with the forecast in front of you, is yours alone — and park rangers’ instructions override anything written here.
Independence and advertising
This site is independent. It is not affiliated with the tourism authorities of Argentina or Chile, with CONAF or the Administración de Parques Nacionales, or with any operator, concessionaire, hotel or cruise line mentioned in the guides. Nothing here is paid placement, and no operator has been given editorial influence.
The site is funded by display advertising. Advertisements are selected automatically by the ad network and are not recommendations. An ad appearing next to a guide implies nothing about the advertiser, and we do not vet advertisers, their products or their claims. Any dealing you have with an advertiser is between you and them. The privacy policy explains the cookies involved.
Links to other sites
Guides link out to park authorities, transport operators, booking portals and tourism offices because those are the sources that can actually answer a question. Those sites are not under our control. Including a link is not an endorsement of the organisation, and we take no responsibility for their content, their availability, their terms or what they do with your data.
Intellectual property
The written guides, the research behind them, the site’s structure and its design are protected by copyright. You are welcome to read them, print a page for your own trip, and quote a short extract with a credit and a link back. You may not republish a guide in whole or in substantial part, reproduce the site’s structure, or use its content to train a commercial model or populate another site, without written permission.
Photographs are a separate matter. Most come from Wikimedia Commons contributors under Creative Commons licences and are credited on the page where they appear. Those licences run between the photographer and you, and are not transferred by us. If you want to reuse an image, take the credit line, find the original, and comply with its licence terms yourself — the attribution and share-alike conditions still apply.
Acceptable use
Please do not attempt to break into or disrupt the site, scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other readers, strip or bypass advertising in a way that interferes with how pages are served, misrepresent the site or its content as your own, or use the contact form to send anything unlawful or abusive.
Availability
The site is maintained but not guaranteed. It may be unavailable for maintenance, host problems or reasons outside our control, and guides may be revised, merged or withdrawn without notice. No commitment is made that any particular page will remain at any particular address.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, this site is not liable for any loss arising from your use of it or from reliance on anything published here — including missed transport, a booking that turned out to be unavailable, a cost that had risen, a closed park or a trip that did not go as the guide suggested it might.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Corrections
If you find an error, please report it through the contact page. Errors of fact are corrected as quickly as they can be verified. That is the mechanism this site relies on, and it works better than any disclaimer.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The date at the top shows the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means accepting it.
